You've bought the courses, watched the tutorials, and listened intently, yet you're still grappling with:
That nagging self-doubt: "Is what I'm doing right?" "Am I good enough?"
The overwhelm of conflicting information online: "It feels like I'm shooting in the dark."
Music that sounds "too much like a score" instead of hitting that impactful trailer sweet spot.
Struggling with modern sounds: Synths, drums, and sound design still "scare" you a bit, and you can't make hits stand out.
The frustrating "art of simplicity": How do you make it efficient and impactful without feeling underdeveloped?
Procrastination driven by a lack of deadlines or a clear roadmap.
Feeling stuck in a learning plateau, yearning for those elusive "ah-ha!" moments and truly actionable insights.
Uncertainty about the business side: How do you even submit music? Which libraries are worth it? How do you get paid?
You're a professional (or aspiring to be!), and you're not looking for generic motivation.
You need specific, direct, and honest guidance from someone who's actually doing what you want to do.
You want to save time, avoid common mistakes, and find a productive way to master trailer music.
Introducing The Composer's Mentorship: Your direct path to mastering modern trailer music, building a standout portfolio, and confidently navigating the industry.
This isn't just another course; it's 12 weeks of personalised, direct, human mentorship designed to unlock your full potential.
By the end of this mentorship, you won't just know how to compose trailer music – you'll be a more confident, efficient, and skilled composer, ready to make your mark.
You will:
Gain Crystal-Clear Vision: No more "baby steps."
You'll have a precise understanding of what to do next, enabling you to "focus on improving details, not the basics." (Davide)
Achieve Better Mixes & Sound Design: Learn to make drums stand out, master modern synths, and confidently apply sound design that "really elevates the ideas." (Dave Cohen, Kevin)
Build an Unstoppable Portfolio: Create a body of "highly licensable and appealing tracks" and a "trailer music portfolio into something I'm very proud of." (Sean Haeberman)
Boost Your Confidence Exponentially: Shift from "Is what I'm doing right?" to "I am enjoying what I am doing." You'll leave "with confidence, momentum, and a much better sense of what’s possible." (Kevin Auvinen)
Accelerate Your Workflow: Learn to "work faster and make the right choices," confidently finishing "more sellable music faster." (Dave Cohen, Sean Haeberman)
Demystify the Industry: Understand "what libraries are looking for," "how to submit music," and "the right/wrong way of how to find trailer music libraries." (Sean Haeberman)
Discover Your "Ah-Ha!" Moments: Get those "answers to the intellectual problems that vex music creation" that traditional books and courses miss, providing you with "tools you can practice over and over again."
I started writing music for movie trailers in 2011. Then in 2017 I started teaching other people how to write music for trailers too.
Writing trailer music can be very daunting. On the one hand you have to write great ideas, often recorded yourself, then produce them to the highest possible standard. All from the comfort of your own studio. Or in my case, front room.
Learning to do this is tough, frustrating and sometimes gets you down. That's why I started teaching online. To help make writing music for trailers, ads, TV (and for fun) as simple and as straightforward as reading a book.

“One of the best music learning experiences I've had!"
"One of the best music learning experiences I've had that exceeded all expectations of what I could accomplish as a composer in 3 months... You won't find a better opportunity than this to become a better trailer and production composer, so what are you waiting for!"
— Dave Cohen, Composer
"This is personalized music teaching of the highest quality."
"It's one thing to learn from a trailer music course, it's another to learn from the master himself. This is personalized music teaching of the highest quality."
— Tom Getty, Composer & Trailer Editor
“This mentorship is going to help you no matter where you are in your trailer journey...”
"...I believe you need mostly 3 things to really improve: 1) a mentor that is writing modern trailer music and getting current placements. 2) Constant feedback on your tracks... 3) someone that knows how to communicate and is good at teaching. Most people seem to have only 1 or 2 of these points but Rich has all 3!"
— Davide Tommaro, Composer
“The mentorship was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish...”
"...building not only my confidence as a composer but also my trailer music portfolio into something I'm very proud of... I definitely grew as a trailer music composer. The mentorship really fast tracked my learning..."
— Sean Haeberman, Composer
"Consistent, real-time, goal-oriented feedback"
"As music composers, It’s easy to fall into self-doubt when learning music on your own, especially through traditional online resources. What made this mentorship different was having consistent, real-time, goal-oriented feedback from someone who truly knows both the creative and business sides of being a composer... This mentorship felt human. And that makes all the difference."
— Kevin Auvinen, Composer
These weekly 1-2-1 calls with me (Rich) take place over Zoom. You will have access to a calendar where you can book a time that suits you. Each call is focused on the goals that we set out at the start of the mentorship and very much act as accountability.
Not only do you get 1-2-1 calls with me, I will also give your tracks detailed feedback via a Loom video. I load you track into Logic and feedback in realtime, sometimes showing you exactly what changes to make and how. This has been one of the most popular aspects of the mentorship.
During the mentorship you join a private community with the other mentees. As part of the private community you will be able to DM me with any specific questions you have. This has proven to be complimentary to the 1-2-1 calls.
That's right, you heard that correctly, access to all of my courses. At the time of writing that is over 30 courses all specialising in trailer music, music for ads, and production music.
Each month I host a group call where I answer common questions and issues you may be having. These calls were designed to cover the more general issues so that your 1-2-1 time can be spent more productively on your specific goals.
By joining the waitlist you agree to receive emails from Rich about booking a discovery call with him to see if you are the right fit for the program.
Yes, you do need to be able to use a DAW so you can produce music during the mentorship.
Nope, you can use whichever DAW you please as long as you know how to use it.
The wonderful thing about this, and all of my courses is that I try to steer clear of getting too deep into theory. You will be at an advantage if you know how to harmonise the major/minor scales but aside from that you won't need any theory.
The ability to deliver a good, balanced mix is pretty essential yes. You do not need to be pro level at this (I certainly am not) and you do not need to master your music either.
The mentorship is a 12-week program from start to finish. Each week you will get a 30-minute 1-2-1 call with Rich and pro feedback delivered via video (I use Loom for that).
Of course not! What I can say is that of all the composers and producers who have taken this mentorship, the ones who are getting work as composers are the ones who put the hours into their work, stay positive and focus on their goals. They also happen to be super nice people (industry secret there)
Currently, the mentorship is an investment of $3500. To secure your space you will need to put down a $500 deposit and payment plans are available too.
Forever. Access to all the courses is part of this mentorship and so you have it for life. Access it anytime you want. You’ll also get all the course updates and new lessons for FREE forever. This is NOT a membership or subscription btw.
The mentorship will happen over Zoom and give you access to a private community here on my site. The courses are video courses hosted by GoHighLevel that requires you to log in and stream the videos. The course also includes downloadable PDFs.
I’ve partnered with GoHighLevel, Stripe, and PayPal to handle billing and provide a secure socket layer, 256-bit encryption.
